As a council, we make all kinds of decisions on issues that affect the residents of Burley. Probably the most common topics that we get involved with are planning matters (for which we are a statutory consultee), managing open spaces and campaigning for and delivering better services and facilities.
Parish councils have limited powers to make decisions, but we do have the ability to negotiate with, and the power to influence, those other organisations that do make the final decisions, typically Bradford Metropolitan District Council. The organisations that make the final decisions know that a parish council gives the best reflection of how a community feels about something and its views will be taken seriously.
Parish Council Administration at the Present Time
In light of the recent government announcement, the Parish Council is responding to changing circumstances by modifying working arrangements. The team in the office will now work from home wherever possible. An alternative mobile contact number is now available and e-mail will still be responded to in the normal way. Parish Council meetings are being held remotely (via Zoom) but continue to be open to members of the public. Please see the 'Meetings' section of the website for more information. If you need help or would like to help with the Community Response please go to the Community page.
