Welcome to the Burley Parish Council Website

As a council, we make all kinds of decisions on issues that affect the residents of Burley. Probably the most common topics that we get involved with are planning matters (for which we are statutory consultees), managing open spaces and campaigning for and delivering better services and facilities.

Parish councils have limited powers to make decisions, but we do have the ability to negotiate with, and the power to influence, those other organisations that do make the final decisions, typically Bradford Metropolitan District Council. The organisations that make the final decisions know that a parish council gives the best reflection of how a community feels about something and its views will be taken seriously.

Parish Council Administration at the Present Time

In light of recent government announcements the Parish Council are responding to changing circumstances by modifying working arrangements.

The team in the office will work from home. An alternative contact number will be made available on voice mail, and e-mail will still be responded to in the normal way.

Parish Council meetings are now being held remotely but are still open to members of the public. Please see the 'Meetings' section of the website for more information.

Dr Zakari Saye is now a surgical oncologist in the capital, Bamako. His meeting with BCC in 2001 sealed a Friendship Agreement that will be commemorated, on August 9th, by flying the Malian flag in Burley. Read More...

Queens Hall Update

Published: 1 Aug 20

While we have begun to start opening up some of our buildings, Queens Hall currently remains closed. Government restrictions mean most events for 2020 have been cancelled and regular community sessions postponed. Behind the scenes we have been working hard getting everything ready to make the Hall Covid safe once we are able to start welcoming back our weekly groups. Looking further into the future, the wedding functions that have had to be cancelled this year have all rebooked for 2021 and our diary is open for enquiries for receptions and large weekend functions with most of the summer season available.
